The Port Defence Committee, therefore, recommend that the scale should now be raised to 60 light anti-aircraft guns.

They considered that no increase in the
scale of scnrchlights is required as the introduction--- of G.L. sets (some of which are en route) does away with the necessity for a full scale searchlight layout for co- operation with guns by night.

Their recommendations are, therefore, that the scale of anti-aircraft defence should now be:-

The above scale is based on the assumptions set out in paragraph 3 above. The Port Defence Committee would point out that should these conditions alter, e. g. should it be decided to hold part of the mainland at all costs, then the scale of anti-aircraft defence would have to be increased. The actual size of the increase cannot be determined without reference to the General Officer Commanding, as it depends largely on local conditions and on the number of suitable anti-aircraft positions, which it would be possible to find.
