6th January, 1941, decided inter alia that the War Office should examine and report to the Committee by the 21st January, 1941, the possibility of finding personnel required to operate equipments coming forward from production in February and March. Although the present Army intake is insufficient to meet the present requirements of the Army, arrangements have been made to provide the 2,400 men required as above, from low medical category personnel at present with Infantry Training Centres. This arrangement has been made possible by an undertaking from the Ministry of Labour to replace these 2,400 men, in mid-February. At the same time the Ministry of Labour have also undertaken to replace 1,000 men already provided as an emergency measure from Infantry Training Centres to meet current commitments. The Ministry of Home Security have not yet, however, informed the War Office of the localities in which these 2,400 men will be required to operate.
