Most of the above oil supplies are not susceptible to Naval bombardment. They are at rather long range for air bombardment at this time of the year 600 miles each way from England and 500 miles from North Africa. Some thing might be done from an aircraft carrier. Parts of these supplies might conceivably be raided by a landing party.
In this case also very early action is desirable.

Other stocks. In addition to the above there are 100,000 tons in Paris (St. Denis) and 20,000 tons of aviation fuel at Le Bourget. There are also stocks at Nantes, where the decision for destruction was delayed until too late by the local Commanding Officer. There are also smaller stocks at a few places on the coast and inland.
It is important that all the above stocks should be destroyed as soon as the political situation permits.
