Recommendations.

5.

Our interim recommendations are

(a) That H.M.S. Argus should be sent to Iceland

as soon as possible to establish facilities for the operation of 8 Walrus aircraft. This is already under consideration in the Admiralty and it may be possible to send H.M.S. Argus in about a week's time.

(b) One rifle and one M.G. battalion should be

sent to Iceland immediately. These, with the one Canadian battalion, will bring the garrison up to 6 battalions in all.

(c) Two further A.A. guns for Reyjavik and the full complement of Bren carriers for all battalions should be sent to Iceland as soon as they can be collected.

(Signed) C., DANIEL,

I.S.0, PLAYFAIR.
