WITH reference to my letter of the 5th instant, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit herewith, for the information of the Royal Commission on the Defence of British Possessions and Commerce Abroad, a second instalment of correspondence respecting proposed coaling-stations in the Pacific, viz. :---

(a.) Bonham Islands.

(b) Honolulu (Sandwich Islands).

(c) Society Islands (Leeward Group).

May 17, 1875. I HAVE the honour to forward, for the information of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, a plan of Bonham Islands, which I have received from Messrs. Capelle and Co., who reside there.

2. Messrs. Capelle forwarded me this plan, with the view of a coaling-station being established by the Admiralty in the Marshall Islands, and I have informed them that no such establishment is at present contemplated.
