1. The Valuation (Metropolis) Act, 1869 (inclusive of such portions of the Union Assessment Committee Act, 1862, and Union Assessment Committee Act, 1864, as are incorporated 27 & 28 Vict. therewith) and the enactments amending the same (which Act, & 38. portions and enactments are in this Act referred to as the Valuation Acts) shall apply to every part of each county (inclusive of any county of a city or county of a town, which for the purposes of this Act forms part of such county) in like manner as if the same were herein re-enacted with the sub- stitution of such county for the metropolis, and of the county council or statutory committee (as the case requires) for the assessment committee, and with the further modifications herein-after mentioned, and such other modifications as are necessary for adapting Act to the enactments of this Act.
(a.) The following sections of the Valuation Metropolis Act,
1869, shall not apply, that is to say :-
Section five (relating to the election of the assessment
committee);
Section eighteen (relating to the holding of special
session to hear appeals);
Sections twenty-three to twenty-nine, both inclusive (relating to the justices in general assessment sessions);
Section fifty (relating to the expenses of the assessment committee and the clerk of the managers of the metropolitan asylum district);
Sections fifty-nine and sixty (relating to parishes where there are no overseers or where the vestry or guardians are the overseers);
