(8.) The taxation of costs and the persons by whom cost
to be paid; and
STO A.D. 1866.
(9.) Any matter by this Act or the principal Act directed or
authorised to be prescribed; and
(10.) Any other matter or thing, whether similar or not to those above mentioned, in respect of which it may be expedient to make rules for the purpose of carrying this Act or the principal Act into execution :
Provided that the assent of the Commissioners of Her Majesty's 10 Treasury shall be obtained to any rule relating to costs or fees.
Any rules made in pursuance of this section shall be judicially noticed, and shall be laid before both Houses of Parliament within three weeks after they are made, if Parliament be then sitting, and if Parliament be not then sitting, within three weeks after the 15 beginning of the then next session of Parliament, and after such rules have been so laid before Parliament, they shall be deemed to have been duly made and to be within the powers of this Act.

DISCONTINUAnce of RegistRIES FOR DEIDI.
13. On or at any time after the appointed day, in any district, including the land subject to the jurisdiction of any of the following local registries, that is to say-

(1.) The registry for the county of Middlesex; or
(2.) The registry for the West Riding of Yorkshire; or

(8.) The registry for the North Riding of Yorkshire; or (4.) The registry for the East Riding of Yorkshire and the town
and county of the town of Kingston-upon-Hull;
the Lord Chancellor may by order declare the existing registry of deeds to be closed, and may make all necessary regulations for that 30 purpose, and for preserving and keeping open for inspection the
documents in the custody of such offices.
14. The Lord Chancellor may by order transfer any person who Compen is at the time of closing any of the said registry offices a registrar of or an officer in any of the said offices to the branch land transfer 35 office having jurisdiction in the same place, and if any person so transferred suffers any loss of salary, or if any person being registrar of or an officer in any of the mid registry offices is not so transferred as aforesaid, and suffers any loss by the closure of such registry, any person so suffering loss may petition the Com-
