(1) The agricultural crop year runs from June to May. Acreages represent areas under crop at the annual census of 4th June. Crop production represents the yield of these areas in the succeeding months. Forecast production figures assume normal yields from the acreages sown.

(2) The reductions in area and production of bread and coarse grains forecast for 1951-52 are in consequence of exceptionally wet weather in the autumn and spring which is expected to have reduced the area sown to wheat and other cereals.

(3) Holdings of one acre and above (or over 4 acre in Northern Ireland). Excludes output of gardens, allotments, pig clubs, etc.
