9. Engineer and Hospital Stores, &c.-The Chief Ordnance Officer will also have to issue at once the tools, &c., required by the District Engineer, the equipment for the two base hospitals to be formed, the stores required by the Royal Artillery for moving the howitzers into position, the equipment for the visual signalling stations, the blouses for the Royal Artillery coolies, and the badges for the A.S.C. coolie transport corps that will be formed.

Requisitions and vouchers for these stores are held in readiness by the Chief Ordnance Officer.

10. Miscellaneous.-Further action by the Chief Ordnance Officer, whose time will be much taken up by arranging for the supply of naval ammunition and stores, will be as follows

(a.) Purchasing locally such hospital equipment and stores as may be required for the base hospital.

(b.) Arranging with the D.A.A.G. (A) for the strengthening of guards over magazines and storehouses.

(c.) Arranging with the C.S.O. for a guard on Kellett's Island to protect the naval magazines. The Navy are unable to guarantee a guard-boat, but think it essential that the island should be protected, and they consider that this would be done more effectively by a land rather than by a water patrol.

(d.) Providing additional accommodation for laboratory work. This will best be provided by tents and boarded floors.

Arrangements have heen made for an officer of the Army Ordnance Corps to visit all posts over storehouses and magazines. A subordinate will be kept in attendance at each magazine and storehouse by day and night so long as considered necessary to meet sudden requirements.
