CHAPTER V.

ORDERS TO CORPS AS TO PROCEDURE ON MOBILIZATION.

1. The procedure of each corps on mobilization, and its distribution and supply with ammunition and stores and tools, are so fully detailed in previous chapters that it seems unnecessary to repeat them here.

2. The companies of infantry assigned to the several sections will be sent out as strong as possible, and care must be taken that the several specialists, such as signallers, telegraph clerks, and stretcher-bearers, are sent out with the several companies to which they belong or have to be attached.

3. The Officer Commanding the European Infantry Regiment will, unless ordered to go to any special command, remain with the Victoria Reserve, see to the quick dispatch of reinforcements which may be called for, and to the punctual supply to the front of rations, ammunition, and equipment, &c.

4. The second in command of this battalion will assume tactical command of the four sections of the southern group, with his head-quarters near those of No. IV Section.

5. The Officer Commanding the Indian Regiment at Kowloon will, after supplying his men with ammunition, distribute them at once from his regimental parade-ground to their several sections, for which water transport will be provided without requisition by the Army Service Corps, for the Stonecutter's detachment, at Chater's Pier, and for the remainder at the Police Pier.
