In case of Fog.-Signal Post, Mount Kellet comes down 200 feet, and forms two posts about 300 yards apart. If Violet Hill, Mount Kellet are in fog, messages will be sent from Wong-nei-cheong, viâ Whitfield Barracks and Magazine Gap.

All stations will do their best to gain communication by moving down from hill-tops, &c., returning to their normal stations when the fog lifts.

In the case of the Mainland Section, all statious, except Beacon Hill, will move down till below the fog, keeping as much as possible on the same bearing as Whitfield Barracks. Beacon Hill will go to Kowloon Pass and endeavour to obtain communication somewhere on the Kowloon Pass Road. On these occasions orderlies should be detailed from the nearest budy of troops to carry messages to and from the stations,

(G.)—Action by O.C. A.S. C.

1. The Officer Commanding the A.S.C. will perform the duties of Director of Supplies and Transport. Prior to mobilization being ordered, all requisitions or enquiries respecting supplies and transport should be sent to the O.C. A.S.C., but once either the precautionary or war stage has commenced, all requisitions for supplies or transport must be sent direct to the supply or transport officers respectively.

(1.) Supplies.

2. Food.-Hong Kong is the Far Eastern depôt for all kinds of supplies used both by Europeans and natives; in fact, there are probably few places where so large a stock of provisions could be obtained in so short a time.

There is estimated to be enough flour for the whole population to last 312 days. There are two large sugar refineries, and a store of sugar sufficient to last for years. There is tea in ample quantity, salt, pepper to last for a year, but the stock of preserved meat and salt pork does not exceed 40,000 lb. Within 12 miles from Kowloon Point the mainland furnishes a fair supply of vegetables.

In fact, the only portion of the European's food limited in quantity is fresh
