No. 2 Sub-Section. All the country between the eastern boundary of No. 1 Sub- section and a line drawn from the summit of Mount Parker (exclusive) to Saiwan Village (exclusive).

3. The sub-sections are further divided into groups, each group is denoted by a letter.

No. 1 sub-section contains Group A, Group B, Group C.

No. 2 sub-section contains Group D, Group E.

Three companies of Indian infantry, together with other details as set forth in Table B (ii), Chapter II, are allotted to each sub-section.

4. In each sub-section a local reserve is placed on the main position, while at suitable places in the interval between the line of resistance and the coast are the supports, these supports at night and in foggy weather throw out piquets, which in turn find patrols and sentry groups.

The exact positions of local reserves and supports and the approximate positions of piquets in each sub-section are clearly laid down in paragraphs 48 and 51, Chapter V.

Mainland Section.

5. The area entrusted to the Mainland Section Commander for defence is divided into three sub-sections as follows:-

No. 3 Sub-Section.

Eastern Boundary. The line of the Lau Tong Valley (inclusive). Western Boundary.-A line drawn through Hammer Hill, Middle Hill, Sleeper's Knoll (exclusive).

No. 4 Sub-Section. Eastern Boundary. The line Hammer Hill, Middle Hill, Sleeper's Knoll (inclusive). Western Boundary.-The Kowloon City, Kowloon Pass Road (exclusive).

No. 5 Sub-Section. Eastern Boundary.-The Kowloon City, Kowloon Pass Road (inclusive). Western Boundary.-The sea shore at Wong Uk (inclusive).

One double company is allotted to each sub-section.

One double company remains in local reserve at Sacred Hill under the orders of the Mainland Section Commander.

6. The sub-sections are further divided into groups. Each group is denoted by a letter. In each group there is a support.

No. 3 sub-section contains (F) and (G) groups. No. 4 sub-section contains (H) and (I) groups. No. 5 sub-section contains (J) and (K) groups.

The exact positions of the troops in each sub-section are clearly laid down in Table B (i).

7. The sectional organization will be adopted both in the precautionary and war stages.

(B.)—Distribution of Troops and Armament.

In the precautionary stage certain ostensibly practice exercises, the details of which are given in Chapter III, will be ordered by the General Officer Commanding, the resulting distribution of troops being shown in Table B (i).

The distribution of the garrison and armament at the war stage is shown in Table B (ii).
