(EE.)—Action by O.C. Electric Lights.

(1.) Electric Lights and Brennan Torpedo.

(i.) In time of Peace.

1. He will see that all gear is ready for immediate running at short notice, and that a reserve of carbons, lubricating oil, and stores, for at least two nights' continuous running, is maintained in each section and fire command. The amount of fuel stored near the engine-rooms is to be kept between the following limits :—

2. He will detail to sections and fire commands, for mobilization, the officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the 40th Co. R.E. and the E.L. staff.

(ii.) At the Precautionary Stage.

3. He will send out a further supply of carbons, lubricating oil, &c., and arrange to renew this supply from time to time.

4. He will send out any stores that may be required for the Brennan installation.

5. He will requisition on the A.S.C. for the coal, oil, &c., required for launch Miner," and reserve oil tanks.

6. The coal bunkers of the launch "Miner" will be filled up, and this vessel kept under steam by night and day.

If this vessel is laid up, a launch to replace her will be hired. This launch will be obtained through the A.S.Ĉ.

(iii.) At the War Stage.

7. He will detail the Volunteer Engineers, and send out to sections and fire commands the number of n.c.os. and men, R.E. and Volunteers, detailed in Table B (ii), Chapter II.

8. All the lights will be kept running continuously from dusk till daylight, and the Brennan installation will be prepared for action.

9. After mobilization is completed, a daily report of the condition of lights, and a summary of any casualties, will be sent in by the E.L.O. of each section and fire command to the O.C. E.L., at headquarters, who will arrange for repairs, calling in the The O.C.
