(BB.)-Action by Intelligence Officer.

(i.) At the Precautionary Stage.

1. Arrange organization of scouts, runners, &c., to be established at the war stage.

2. Organize local intelligence work.

(ii.) At the War Stage.

3. Under the orders of the General Staff Officer, he will have charge of all arrangements connected with receiving, collating, and distributing intelligence.

4. Intelligence will be received from (as in paragraph 6, except in (c) and (d), for "General Staff Officer" read "Intelligence Officer ").

5. He will distribute Chinese runners as required to be employed as scouts and runners between outposts and headquarters of sections, and generally to supplement the telephone, telegraph, and signalling services.

6. He will organize secret agents.

7. He will distribute intelligence as ordered by the General Staff Officer, and keep the intelligence diary.

Ration Escorts.-The O.C. the Reserve will furnish the O.C.A.S.C. Victoria and Kowloon on their requisition with escorts for the distribution of rations to sections and fire commands, and to take charge of the coolies employed.
