(9).-Hong Kong Volunteer Corps.

At the War Stage.

1. The Hong Kong Volunteer Corps having been called out for active service by Proclamation by his Excellency the Governor, all Volunteers become subject to the Army Act, and the corps is now under the orders of the G.O.C.

2. In accordance with General Staff Order No. parade at headquarters at

Dress: Field service order, helmet, khaki and putties, great coat in web carrier, mess tin, haversack, water bottle (filled), bandolier, waist belt, with ammunition pockets, rifle and side-arms.

3. The scale of baggage allowed is-60 lb. per officer and 20 lb. for other ranks.

4. 150 rounds of ball ammunition per infantry rifle and 60 rounds per artillery and engineer rifle will be issued on parade.

5. A party of 1 officer, 2 n.c.os., and 12 men will be detailed to proceed to A.O.D. to draw small-arm ammunition and any equipment not already drawn during the precautionary stage, for conveyance to headquarters.

6. The following movements will take place

To Island Section-1 officer and 20 men artillery company, who will take over 2----5-in. howitzers on Mount Violet and report to the Island Section Com- mander.

1 officer and 18 men artillery company, who will take over 2-2′95-in. Q.F. guns in the coolie shelter opposite Peak Hotel and proceed with them to Mount Kellet and report to the Island Section Commander.

Ammunition for the above will be provided and maintained at the rate of 100 rounds per piece.

The remainder of the artillery companies and the infantry company will proceed to Stonecutters to reinforce the garrison there and to act under the orders of the Western Fire Commander.

The engineer company will be marched to Wellington Barracks at once, and will be attached to the R.E. for rations and discipline.

The troop will fall in at Kennedy's stables, and will be marched to Messrs. Jardine, Mathieson and Co.'s wharf at East Point, where they will be embarked for the mainland to be encamped at the headquarters of the Mainland Section at Sacred Hill. On arrival the officer in charge will report to the Mainland Section Commander and act under his orders. One day's rations for horses will be carried.

7. Two days' rations, for which transport will be provided, will be carried by each unit.

8. Rations and transport will be provided by the O.C.A.S.C.
