This gazetteer contains about 27,295 entries: 1,225 for Hong Kong Designation .--The second column contains designations or ab
(pages 1-18), 70 for Macao (pages 19-20) , 5,900 for Sinkiang breviations of designations , as follows :
(pages 21-108) , 17,800 for Taiwan (pages 109-355) , and 2,300 for
Tibet (pages 357-90). The entries include approved standard names ADMD administrative division MON monastery
and unapproved variant names , the latter cross- referenced to the standard ANCH anchorage MRSH marsh
names . Users of the gazetteer should always refer to main entries for AREA area MT mountain
approved names . The names in this gazetteer supersede those in all BANK sandbank, banks MTS mountains , range

It has been necessary to express in code numbers and letters some CHAN channel PEN peninsula

Name.--Approved standard names and unapproved variant names COVE cove PROV province
