The black-faced spoonbill (Platalea minor) shares Hong Kong with over 540 species of birds, which in turn make up a fraction of all that walk, crawl, fly, swim or sprout in the countryside. Like the endangered spoonbill, some appear on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species.
