Hong Kong and Guangdong Province launch a joint Electronic Cheque clearing service, under which e-cheques issued by banks in Hong Kong and deposited with banks in Guangdong will be settled on the next business day.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong begins construction of the three-runway system and starts to collect airport construction fees of $70 to $180 per passenger on air tickets issued from this day to tie in with the start of the works.

The names of 289 validly nominated candidates for the 2016 LegCo General Election are gazetted. Twelve candidates in 10 functional constituencies will be returned uncontested. The government announces the subscription and allocation results of the first Silver Bond under the retail part of the Government Bond Programme.
