About 4km2 of Mangrove and Swamp, which is below the High Water Mark, is included in
this figure. This 4km2 should not be counted in the total land area of the territory.
According to the Lands Department, the total land area of the territory (i.e. land above the High Water Mark) is 1,106km2.
The above land usage figures as at end-2015 have been updated with satellite images dated February 2016, in-house survey information up to end-2015 and other relevant information from various government departments. As definitions of some land use classes and methodology are updated from time to time, the figures this year may not be comparable directly to those provided in previous years.
