Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance. The EOC's functions include working towards the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, disability, family status and race, and working towards the elimination of sexual harassment, and harassment and vilification on the grounds of disability and race.

In 2014, the EOC received 4,456 enquiries and 606 complaints relating to the four anti- discrimination ordinances. A total of 153 complaint cases were successfully conciliated.

The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data

The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) is an independent statutory body established under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) to monitor, supervise and promote compliance with the PDPO.

In 2014, the PCPD received 1,702 complaints and 17,328 enquiries, referred 20 cases to the police for criminal investigation, received 12 matching procedure consent applications, conducted 219 compliance checks and inspected aspects of the personal data systems of the Student Financial Assistance Agency and the Labour Department. It also published five reports on self-initiated investigations.

The PCPD organised 245 talks, seminars and workshops for the general public and various industry sectors to promote awareness and general understanding of personal data privacy. It organised 90 professional workshops for data users, and conducted tailor-made seminars for the retail industry and mobile applications developers in the information and communication technology industry. It also held the International Conference on Data Privacy in Corporate Governance in February, and collaborated with 25 privacy enforcement authorities to review the transparency of privacy policies and practices of mobile applications worldwide.

In February 2014, the government and 39 insurance, telecommunications and other organisations pledged to include privacy and data protection in their corporate governance and implement privacy management programmes.
