Heritage Conservation

In November, the Tung Wah Museum, the Man Mo Temple Compound, the Tang Kwong U Ancestral Hall and Kom Tong Hall were declared monuments. (Above and above right) The Tang Kwong U Ancestral Hall in Kam Tin, Yuen Long was built in 1701, during the Qing Dynasty. The building, featuring green bricks, pitched roof applying clay tiles laid on timber rafters and purlins, was restored by the Antiquities and Monuments Office in 1995. (Right) Kom Tong Hall on Castle Road in Central was built in the composite classical style in 1914. The Government acquired the building in 2004 to preserve Hong Kong's invaluable built heritage and transformed it into the Sun

Yat-sen Museum in 2006.
