In 2006, GLD awarded contracts on behalf of all user departments with a total value of $3.82 billion. Items bought from 33 different territories included:

and

• high value purchases of computer equipment and software, pharmaceutical products, transport services, specialised vehicles, fuel oils telecommunication equipment;

commonly used items supplied through allocated term contracts and delivery by the term contractors on an as-and-when-required basis to avoid stocking and double handling; and

• essential and emergency items purchased in bulk and held in the Government Logistics Centre of GLD. User departments can place orders for these items when required.
