All-round development training programmes are organised to sharpen their talents and potentials in moral values, intellectual abilities, physical health, social concern and aesthetics values. Community services activities are also held for participants to help them appreciate human relationships, understand the community in which they live and enhance their sense of responsibility to the community.
In 2001, over 17 000 activities were organised involving over 1.8 million young people at a total cost of about $55.3 million. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust donated $19.1 million and the balance was met by the Government, the District Councils, private donations and participants' fees.
