Hong Kong is working

on the environmental problems that accompany high concentrations of people and industries and already recovers a remarkably high proportion - about 34

-

per cent of its municipal solid waste for recycling.

As part of the process, a caring citizen puts newspaper into

a recycling bin in Central (left) and (below) a taxi driver

shows off the tank installed

in the boot of his vehicle

to hold liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The government

is studying the merits of using LPG more widely in its efforts

to control air pollution.
