Hong Kong Year Books 香港年報 All

By every measure, Hong Kong has developed in dramatic contrast with the tighter times in the years after World War II. Then, skilled tradesmen were keenly sought and earned $5 to $6.20 a day; male weavers on $10 a day were the highest-paid factory workers. Rice was 84 cents a catty ($1.38 a kilogram) and fresh fish cost $1.65 a catty ($2.71 a kilogram).
