During the dry season, GFS helicopters assisted in over 61 fire-fighting operations, dropping approximately 850 tonnes of water on bush and forest fires in areas inaccessible to conventional fire-fighting appliances.

Under the pilot localisation programme, two more cadets completed their training and were promoted to the rank of Pilot II, making a total of 12 Pilot IIs. The 1994 cadet pilot recruitment exercise yielded four more candidates who began training at the end of the year, bringing the total number of cadets under training to eight. Two are expected to complete their training in 1995, when another four cadets will be recruited for training.
