Sponsorship Advisory Service, officially launched in June 1992, generated $9 million in sponsorship funding in 1992–93, with a number of agreements running for several years.

Sporting Achievements

Athletes from Hong Kong participated in many international competitions and enjoyed some significant successes.

In windsurfing, Lee Lai-shan won a gold medal in the ladies' lightweight international race board class while Wong Tak-sum won a bronze medal in the men's lightweight international race board class at the Asian Boardsailing Championships 1993. At the UK Eurolymp Championships 1993, Lee Lai-shan won a gold medal in the ladies' Olympic class and Wong Tak-sum a silver medal in the men's lightweight Olympic class. Lee Lai-shan also won the championships in the ladies' Olympic class at the German Windsurfing championships 1993 and the IMCO European Windsurfing Champion- ships 1993.

In table tennis, Chan Suk-yuen, Chan Tan-lui, Chai Po-wa and Wong Wing-san won a silver medal in the women's team event at the First Asian Team Cup Table Tennis Tournament. Chan Tan-lui and Chai Po-wa won bronze medals in the women's doubles at the 42nd World Table Tennis Championships.

At the 6th Asian Junior Squash Championships, Jackie Lee won a gold medal in the men's individual event, while Rebecca Chiu won a bronze medal in the women's individual. Rebecca Chiu, Sally Hawkes, Eva Yam and Angel Choi then went on to win a bronze medal in the women's team event.

At the 1993 Special Olympics World Winter Games, Leung Sai-ho and Tsang Lai-king each won a gold medal in the men's Grade 2 figure skating and women's Grade 2 figure skating, respectively. In speed-skating, Chong Sin-hon won a gold medal in the women's 800 metres event and a bronze medal in the 300 metres event. Lau Kwok-yee won a silver medal in the women's 300 metres event. Law Cheuk-kei won a bronze medal in the men's 100 metres event and a bronze medal in the men's 1 000 metres event.

At the Asian Karatedo Invitation Championships 1993, Chat Him-ching won a gold medal in the men's under 60 kilogramme Kumite event and Ng Suet-lai a silver medal in the women's Kata event. Lau Wai-kwong and Shaz Shahid won bronze medals in the men's 65-70 kilogramme Kumite event, and together with Leung Chi-lap, Tam Tak-ming, Tang Chung-kay and Lam Lap-sun, they won a bronze medal in the men's team Kumite event. Tse Sun-yue and Wong Pui-wah won bronze medals in the men's Kata and women's Kata event, respectively.

At the First East Asian Games 1993, Ho Kim-fai won a gold medal in the women's lightweight single scull event. Lui Kam-chi and Chiang Wing-hung won bronze medals in the men's lightweight doubles scull event in rowing. In wushu, Leung Yat-ho won a silver medal in the men's nanquan and Ng Siu-ching won a silver medal in the women's three events combined. Ng Siu-ching and Li Fai also won bronze medals in the women's nanquan and women's three events combined, respectively. In badminton, Chan Siu-kwong, Ng Pak-kum, Wong Wai-lap, Chow Kin-man, Chan Kin-ngai and Ng Liang-hua won a bronze medal in the men's team event, while Wong Chun-fun, Chung Hoi-yuk, Chan Oi-ni, Cheng Yin-sat, Tung Chau-man and Ngan Fai won a bronze medal in the women's team event. Chan Siu-kwong and Chung Hoi-yuk also won bronze medals
