took to Canada cultural performances and exhibitions, sports demonstrations, food and film festivals, trade and economic seminars and academic exchanges. To complement these Hong Kong programmes organising committees in Canada also hosted a variety of events which included street carnivals, store promotions, fashion shows, dragon dances and dragon boat races. A total of over 100 events was staged bringing full Hong Kong colours to Canadian friends across the Pacific.
Seen as a major promotion overseas, Festival Hong Kong '92 was attended by prominent local personalities from Hong Kong and senior government officials, including the Governor and the Chief Secretary. Canadian Prime Minister Mr Brian Mulroney and the Governor of Hong Kong, Mr Christopher Patten, were the festival honorary patrons.
Festival Hong Kong '92 established a stronger relationship with Canada through trade and cultural exchanges and showed friends in Canada a representative picture of Hong Kong's life and culture.
