Opposite: The handsome red brick and granite structure known as the French Mission Building, in Battery Path, Central, was home to the French 'Missions Etrangeres' in the early-1900s and, in various shapes and forms, has been the site of the first Governor's house, the Supreme Court and government offices. It retains an aura of times past, particularly in the internal courtyard (below).
