The Governor, Sir David Trench, who has presided over one of the most successful periods of expansion in Hong ong's history, announced simultaneously during the year the third extension of his term of office since he came to Hong Kong in 1964 and his coming retirement in October 1971. He is pictured here during one of the happier moments in a Governor's crowded calendar-the annual get-together with children of the Government House staff at Chinese New Year.
