主席報告 Chairman's Statement

被升任為集團總經理。何氏於本集團服務逾十五載,對 渡輪業務及本集團其他業務有深入認識。

致謝

本人謹代表股東及董事會全人,向為本公司辛勤服務之 全體員工,表示衷心感謝。

展望

由於市場佔有率萎縮及票價調整不足彌補成本上漲,渡 輪業務將持續面對困難。本公司已要求政府關注小輪乘 客量下降及渡輪業務之生存空間,而政府亦正研究對 策。

本集團現正致力與政府磋商中環碼頭上蓋發展計劃之條 款細則、合理地價及法律文件,本集團只能在該計劃獲 得盡快落實後,方才有望在業績上獲得改善。

his contributions to the Group. Mr. David Ho Chi Shing was appointed as the Group General Manager with effect from 1 January 1996. Mr. Ho has served the Group for more than 15 years and is well acquainted with the ferry operations and the Group's other businesses.

On behalf of the shareholders and the Board, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our staff for their dedication and hard work in the year.

PROSPECTS

The ferry operations will continue to face difficulties due to a shrinking market share and fare increase insufficient to cover inflated costs. The attention of the Government has been drawn to the continual decline in the ferry patronage and the viability of ferry operations, and measures to address the issue are being investigated with the government.

The Group is continuing its efforts to negotiate with the government for the detailed terms, a reasonable land premium and legal documentation of the Central Ferry Pier Development. It is anticipated that the results of the Group can only be improved upon the prompt conclusion of the deal.
