At the end of 1953, that is the end of the Company's 30th year, the fleet consisted of 39 vessels.
Two vessels are now under construction; one built at Messrs. Yarrow & Co., Ltd., Glasgow, and shipped to Hong Kong for reassembly by the Hongkong Shipyard Limited, who will also install the machinery and complete the vessel for service. A smaller 400 passenger steel ferry "MAN HEI" has just been launched in the same shipyard.
In addition to the fleet, the Company now owns (under Crown Leases) approximately 58,950 sq. ft. of land with a water frontage of 263 ft. and is now constructing a large berthing pier and reconditioning 2 large slipways for the maintenance of the ferry fleet. This Depot is expected to be completed in 1954.
