SILK.

Yokohama, 15th Jan.:-By the turn of the year quite a large "complimentary business" was done in raw silk with the result that prices for most grades advanced and that Sinshius" and fine sizes became rather scarce. At the close, our market is again quiet. As most of the factories in the Interior are closing down during the cold weather, arrivals are expected to be much curtailed for the coming months.

P

WASTE SILK-Market very quiet. The trans- action reported helow were entirely compli- mentary purchases concluded before the turn of the year. Quotations are unchanged. Settle- ments from December 28th to January 11th, 2,700 picula. Total Settlements from July 1st to January 11th, 45,550 piculs. Stock on Jan. 12th is estimated at 7,600 picula.

HABUTAI-The first part of the month shows an advance in 36 inch Kanazawa good-, but the quotations for other widths are unchanged, The demand from America has increased, but there has not been much doing for Europe. Prices for Echizen have been marked by a con- siderable firmness and show no change whatever. There has been a good enquiry for the better qualities from all quarters. The recurring market days continue to exhibit weakness in Kawamata and this Habutai is apparently veglected.

CAMPHOR.

HONGKONG 1st February :-There is no market $83.50-$84,50.
