CHINA OVERLAND TRADE REPORT

:

Mesara. J. P. Bisset & Co. of Shanghai in their Share Report for the week ending October 29th, state:-A very large business has been done during the past week in Maatschappij &c. in Langkats shares, the market rising rapidly, but we do not know the cause of this. Other stocks have remained more or less steady at last week's quotations. Bank-B. & S. Bank. Shares remained steady at $820 and Ex. 73. In. surance.-North-China Ins. Cb.-At the begining of the week these shares were quoted at Tla 80 ex div. but the last demand from Hongkong sent the price up to Tls. 85 buyers. Yangtze Ins Associations. --Sales have again taken place at $1671 with exchange 73. Shipping-Shang- hai Tag & Lighter Co. A sale of Ordinary shares took place at Tls. 44, and further sbares are wanted at this rato. Preference shares have been placed at Tl. 52. Dooks & Wharves- Shanghai Dock & Engineering Co.-The quota- tion still remains at Tis. 82 nominal Shanghai & Hongkow Wharves. The market is a little stronger, business being reported during the week at Tls. 154 and 155 cash and Tls. 1571 December. Sugars.-Perak Sugara. — Shares have been placed at $871 and further business could probably be done at this rate. Mining.-No business reported. Kaipings are quoted at Tĺs. 16 sellers. Lands.- Shanghai Land Investment Co.-Shares are wasted at Tis. 116 and in the Anglo-French Land Invest. ment Co, there are buyers at Tls, 99. Indus trial.-Ewo Cotton.-Business has been reported at Tlx. 66, Tla. 661, and Tls. 67 October and Tla 68 and Tls. 69) Decembert Laou Kung Mows.— Shares have changed hands at Tla 75 and there are sellers at this rate, Soy Chees are quoted at Tls, 240. Business has been done at this rate and there are sellers at the close. Shanghai Gas Co.-Business is reported at Tls. 117. Ma- atschappij, etc., in Langkat-We have had a very excite market in this stock during the week. The last business quoted in the previous week was Tls. 645 December and rate rapidly rose, business being reported at Tls. 660, T18, 880, Tis. 62 and Tls. 690 December, while March shares have been placed at Tls. 725. Sumatras.-- Cash shares have been placed at T's 1171 and there are buyers at this rate. For December the quotation is Tia. 120 bayers. Miscellaneous - The only change of importance to be recorded under this heading is a sale of Shanghai Electric Cone- truction shares at £8. The other quotations remain as before.

Long and Debentures.-Astor House Seven per cent debentures have changed hands at Tla. 100, and Shanghai Water works Six per cent debentures at Tla 103.
