HONGKONG SHARE QUOTATIONS.
HONGKONG, 16th October, 1908.-Our market has ruled much quieter daring the p st week, and beyond a further advance in Banks there are but few material alterations in quotations to report. Barsil ver has continued fairly steady during the interval, olcsing at 2311a, with T.T. on London at 1/9%, and on Shanghai at 751.

BANKS. Hongkong and Shanghais have been booked at $795 and 8801, closing steady at the lafter rate. London is unchanged at £80, Nationals are unchanged and without business at 851 buyers.
MARINE INSURANCES.—A fair business has been done in Unions at rates varying between $785 and $795, the market closing rather easier with probable sellers at $790. North China can be placed at the improved rate of Tls. 85, and Yangtzes at $160. Cantons are quist but steady at $200 with no transactions reported.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have been booked at $335 at which rate the market olcses firm.
Chinas have improved t› 896 with siles and further buyers.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have again been booked at $29, and more shares are procurable. In other stocks in this section no business is reported, and with the exception of Shell Transports which are wanted at 448. there is no change in quotations to report.
REFINERIES. China contiane on offer at $120 and Luzons at $22

MINING. Raubs have been booked at 87 at which rate more shares are on offer, bonnages are still in demand at $580

DOCKS, WHARves and GodOWNS. - Hong. kong & Whampoa Docks have been fixed at the reduced rate of $98, and there are
farther
sellers at this figure. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves have been booked at 850 and close in further request at $49. Shanghai Docks have declined in the north to Tls. 82, but there is a slight improvement to report in Shanghai and Hongkew Wharves which are now quoted at Tls. 154 with sales. Chinese Engineerings are easier with sellers at Tis: 16.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS-Quota- tions in this section are unchanged, and with the exception of a sale of West Points at $46 we have hear of no business during the interval.
COTION MILLS.-Hongkongs have continced quiet, and are still procurable at 81. In the North, Internaționals have advanced to Tls, 64, and Leon Kung Mows to Tla. 75,
MISCELLANEOUS, -Bell's Asbestos continus in request at $8, and China Providents at $91 after sales at the rate. Dairy Farms have fur- ther advanced to $24 and a slightly higher rate might even be paid. Cements have again been done at $10, and Electrics at $18. There are sellers of China Light and Powers at $61, China Borneos at $10 and Union Waterboats at $10 Watsons are wanted at $91.

The price of rice here has advanced over 20 cents per picul, owing to reports that recent floods and typhoons have done considerable damage to the new crop in Kwongtung.
