The death is announced of Mr [ M. Dyce, | ALLEGED ATTEMPI TO SMUGGLE principal of the firm of Dyce & Co, ~ hanghai, which occurred in England on Feb. 5th. Dyes, who was sixty one years of "ge, had ban residing in I, ndon for some years. He went. to Shanghai on May 9, 1970, and joined the firm of Masars Westall, Branter & Co, Bra book keeper and general assistant, hat he had learnt the silk business in London, a d gown rose to be a silk inspector. He remained with this firm for six years, at the end of which he became a partner in the firm of Megus George Barnet & Co.
The latter basiness in enre of time was taken over by Mr. Dyca under the name of Dven & Co.

Six carriages have arrived in Peking from Shanghai for the use of Their Majesties and the Court.
