July 6th was an ideal day for racing and a day that invited all out of doors. For once the Gymklana Club meeting was favoured with splendid weather, and members must have been i delighted to see such a large gathering inļ attendance. The ladies were present in 'urce, clad in their summer attire which added to the pretty picture the flat presented. H. E. the Officer Administering the Government wax! present before the first race started, being accompanied by a large party to the Governor's stand. Through at the afternoon music was supplied by the band of the Middlesex Regi.: ment. The racing good,
ald Some very acceptable dividends were paid, expecially
the winners in the cash sweeps. Seldom, if ever, did a burdle race cause so much excitement as Satur. day s, and it was fortunate for the riders who were unseated to have escaped with so little damage. First of all Mr. Brutton was thrown, but was
up and after his runaway pony: then Mr. Master came to grief as bis pony baulked at a burdle, and rider and peny disappeared from view into the ditch which uns by the course. Mr. Master managed to get up on to the bank, but it was some time before he could leave the field, even with assistance. No bones were broken, but he was sorely bruised. The next rider to lose his mount was Mr. | Roberts. Sirocco refused to take a hurdle, the i lockey was thrown and the pouy made its way out of the course. This list of accidents! damped all interest in the hurdle

a race. Minnoch was the only pony lit, I and, although he was bent on winuing. it. was apparent that Commander Wes, the jockey, intended to be careful not to add another to the list of accidents in this event, He piloted his pony slowly round the course and carefully through the broken burdles, and was accorded a cheer as Le passed the winning post Although the Challenge Cup brought forth o. ly three starters, still the race was a splendid eu-. : and was well wou by Coxcomb. Blue Nile running a close second. The Ladies' Nomination Egg and Spoon Race furnished amusement for many, while in the Tent Pegging Challenge | Cup there was some skilful tilting at the ring the knight who carried off the honours being Mr. C. H. Boss. The results were :- ONE MILE FLAT RACE HANDICAP-For Subscription Griffins of this season 1906-07.
