Bisset & Co.'s Share Report for the week ending March 7th, 1967, states:-- Business has been very quiet during the past week; all the principal stocks are easier, and an improvement has to be recorded in Sumatras, of which there are now buyers at Tis, 112. Business was reported during the week at Tis. 2361 for the old shares, and Tls, 226 for the new shares, but the market closedd with old shares on offer at Tls. 233 and new shares at Tis. 223. Shanghai Dock and Engineering Co. Ltd. ahares have been dealt in at Tls. 108 and Tls. 107 for March, closing steady at the latter rate. Sugara.

TONNAGE.

HONGKONG, 8th March.-During the past fort night a large business has been transacted From Saigon to Hongkong, the demand continues, 19 cents being lust rate paid; to Philippines, one small carrier ha been closed at 29 cents; to Swatow, 22 cents last; to Shanghai, 284 cents: to Tientsin, two boats fixed at 45 cents owners paying cost of lighterage at Taku Bar; to Japan, 27 cents. From North Coast Java to Hongkong, 30 cents per picul for wet and/or dry sugar; to Japan, 100 per ton. From Bangkok to this 24 cents and 31 cents per picul Coal freights are firm. From South Japan Coal port to this, $1.0 offering to Singapore, $1.60 per ton last. Time charters. The Dagny has been chartered for Newchwang/Canton trade, Nord, Clara Jebsen and Sezta for Saigon, Hilary for Java and Quinta for Northern and Providence for Haiphong trade. Messrs. Wheelock & Co.'s Freight Market Report, dated Shanghai, lat March, 1907, states. -Since writing last. the China New Year | holidays have intervened and although there are signs of improvement there is very little cargo coming forward for export, the markets not having recovered yet from the holidays, Constwise:—We are glad to be able to record a decided change for the better, this is owing partly to the resumption of business after the holidays, partly to the near opening of the Nor- thern Ports, and partly to the reduction in the numbers of "outsiders" plying on the coast, so many of the Norwegian boats having been obliged to retire homewards during the last year so that now there are only about a third of the number remaining that were out here twelve months ago.
