The andernoted business in imported and local¦ spinnings is reported from Shanghai during the fortnight ended the 16th instant, viz:-
Indian:-The New Year holidays have inter- fered with business and sales of about 4,000 ! ales are reported at a small variation in values. Unsold and uncleared
yarn was estimated at about 150,000 bales.
Japanese-About 1,000 hales are reported to have changed hands at easier rates, market closing weak in sympathy with lower prices in Japan.
LocalNo fresh business from first hands. The quantity of sold and uns ld yarn with the local Mills being estimated at over 69,000 bales. To relieve this congestion some of the Mills have stopped working for thice to four weeks.

MINING. Raubs have ruled weak and with- out business. Stars could probably be obtained under the quoted rat Charbonnages un- changed and without business.
Docks, WHARTES AND GODOWN8. — Hong. kong and Whamps Deeks continge steady st $ 4 and swalls les have been made at that rate. Kowloons remain ou offer at 894 without inducing any but the smallest business. Shan- hai Docks have improved and at time of closing can be placed at Tls 17), and probably at Tig. 148. New Amey Docks anclanged and without business.
LANDS, HOTELs and Buildings. — Hong- keng Lands have changed hands at $106 and $17. also forward at comparatively slightly lower rates, the market closing with small Fuyers at $107. Hotels remain at 81±8, st which rate a few abares could still be placed. Hum hreys have changed bands at $11.20 and 8111, cl sing steady at the latter rate. 8bang: bai Lands are quoted at Tls, 101 ex div. of Tla. 11.
