Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co.'s Share Report for the week ending August 23rd, 1906, states--A general improvement has to be noted in the price of nearly all stocks during the last two weeks Very little business has been done in Shangha
owing to holders selling out some of their shares to obtain funds to take up new issue. Although these funds will not be required for some time, the Gas Co. are prepared to pay 6 per cent. for all sums deposited with them against purchase of the new issue, and the proposal is a tempting one to holders. Cotton Stocks. A fair business has been done in all stocks under this heading, and shares are firm at quotations. Stores and Hotels.
Hall and Holtz are quoted at $23. Dunning & [Co. $52. Astor House Hotel $30 ex. div. Mie- cellaneous.--A fair number of transactions have taken place in Telephones at Tla. 63. Shanghai Electric and Asbestos Co. Shares changed hands at $284. Loans and Debentures.- An operation is reported in Astor House Hotel 8 per cent. Debs, at Tls. 105, while there is a demand for all debentures.
