The German Minister has informed the Waiwupu that, with the exception of 300 troops at Peking and 400 at Tientsin, all the German forces in China will be withdrawn before the end of April next.

The extract of meteorological observations made at the Observatory during January shows that the total maximum temperature was 62:5 and the minimum 54.8 deg. The month's rain- fall was 1.985 inches.
