SHARE REPORTS. HONGKONG, 8th 8-ptember, 1905,-We bare to report an uneventful week with a fair cash business but with no special features in the market. BANKS Hongkong & Shanghais, after a cho t period of inactivity, are again enquirel for, and no shares being forthcoming the rate has improvel to $8874 with buyer. Shires are source, and with an unsatisfied dem ad are likely to improve, even in the free of a high exchange. Nationals seem to be entirely out if the market and the quotation must be re- garded as more or less nomina).
MARI E INSURANCES, Unions have, 18 anticipated, ruled quieter and sellers at 8770 bare juled the market. We have heard of no sales, but offers of $765 would in all pr bability be met by sellers. China Traders have a'so ruled easier ard after sales at $814 and $81. ch-nged bands at £80, closing with buyers. Cantons are obtainable at $340 after small sales at that rate and at $335. Yangsizes and North Chinas remain without a y local business.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hong kongs have been p'ac d at 8335 and $336 closing steady to firm at the latter rate. Chinas have further im-r proved to $85 with sales and close with buyers
SHI PING-Eougkong, Cauten and Macaos, show a further improvement on last week's quotations, and sales are reported at 8.63 and $27,market closing with buyers at the former rate. Indo-Chinas have continued weak and sales have been effected 18 low as $93, after a few shares had changed hands at $934. At time of closing there appear to be no sellers under $94, but the market is a weak one. We have nothing else to report under this Leading.
REFINERIFS. China Supard have ruled steady at $134, with a few sales at $236 and $235 for settlement. At time of c'osing the market shows some slight signs of weakness. Luzons bare declined to §21 willout sales and clo e with sellers.

DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS. - Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks, after further se1-8 at $195, were placed a $194 +rd closa steady at that rale, notwithstanding news of an unsuc- cessful attempt to floit the Sully –
-an attempt that in all probability would have been successful but for the unfortunate advent of a typhoon which completely broke up the pontoon after it had been got into position and had raised the ship's bows 12 fart. Kowloou Wharves have found layers at $9 and close at $10 steady. Farnhams are quoted in Shanghai at Tis 140 and Horgkew Wharves at T. 185. New Amoy Docks aud Fenwicks unchanged and without business.

Messrs: Wheelock & Co.'s Fright Market Report, dated Shanghai, 31st August, 1903, states :-Our Homeward Freight Market has shown a little more activity during the past fortnight although nothing like the quantity of cargo that usually goes has been shipped up to date -only some 3,000 tons of tea have gone forward to London up to the present, whereas in previous years it went by the ship-load. Coastwise:-Still the rame "rotten state of affairs on the coast with little chance of any improvement for some weeks; if by any chance an enquiry comes into the market there are immediately a dozon ships ready and eager to snap it up. Time-Charterera are also finding it very difficult to keep their boats employed and must be loving money in a great number of cases.
