SHARE REPORTS.

HONGKONG, 24th February, 1905.—During the past week business has been almost at a standstill owing to the Race holidays, but rates generally continue to rule steady, whilst in the case of Banks a fair advance has to be recorded. BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have advanced to $710 or the dividend and bonus of altogether 50 per share (at Ex. 1/11/ $25.46 42) for the second balf of 1934 paid on the 20th instant, market closing firm with further buyers. Nationals are unchanged and

without bu·i·ess.

MARINE INSURANCES.-Uni ns have sold at $698 and $700 and close in further r quest at the higher rate. There are no other changes to report.

FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have sold and continue in request at $345, Chinas aer I rocurable at $93.

Indo-

SHIPPING, Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have sold and are still wanted at $26. Chinas are steady at $126. Shanghai quotes Tls. 91, and Loudon £12 as before. Shell Tansports are easier with probable sellers at 22. Douglases are still wanted at $331. There is no change to report in China and Manilas or Star Ferries.

REFINERIF8. China Sugars have been bocked at $226, market closing firm

Luzons continue in reques' at $221.

MINING. Quotations are unchanged. business has transpired under this head.

DOCKS, WHARVES, AND GODOWN8.—Hong- kong and Whampos Docks have sold at $203 er the dividend and bonus of altogether $7 per share for the second half of 1904, paid on the the 21st instant, and more shares are wanted. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves and New Amoy Docks are unchanged. Farnham, Boyds have improved to Tls. 155 buyers.

LANDS, HOTELS, AND BUILDINGS.-Hong- Lands have was kened, and shares are now procurable at $130. Kowloon I ands are wanted at $36 Hongkong Hotels are still in request at $141. Humphreys' Estates kave again been boo..ed at $12 and more shares are procurable, Shanghai Lands have sold loo ́lly at Tls. 115 ex divi end, and close firm.

COTTON MILLS.-No business has transpi ed in this section, and with the exceptin of Ewo Coʻtons, which are somewhat firmer at Tls. 25, there are no changes in quot tions to report.

MISCELLANEOUS. China Providents have been booked at $91. Dairy Farms are wantəd at $12, and Green Island Cemen's at the improved rate of $294. Tramways have de- clined to $245 sellers, and Ices are still procurable at $242. Watsons have been booked at $12)

Messrs. J. P. Bisset and Co.'s Share Report for the week ending February 18th, 1905, states - Since the date of our last circular, February 2nd, the Chinese New Year holidays have intervened, these being from the 4th to the 9th inclusive, during which no business was reported. Since the resuming of business on the 10th a fair business is to be reported, and we have to note a fall in Farnhams and Langkats. The T.T. rate on London is quoted at 2/8. Banks.-Hongkong and Shanghai Bank. Transactions are reported local- ly at $720 ex. 71 and 71. Marine and Fire Insurance. No business reported. Shipping.- Indo-Chinna.-The market for these has remained very firm. A transaction at Tis. 93 for cash was reported on the 11th, while business was done at Tis. 92 and 931 for March. The last sale

reported is to-day, being Ths. 92 for March. Tug and Lighters are wanted at quotations.

Docks and Wharves.-8. C. Farnhams. The market closed at the Chinese New Year holidays with sales at Tls. 157, 155}, and 155 March; for April Tla. 1581; May Tls. 1614. On resuming business on the 10th, cash shares were placed at Tls. 150 with sales for March at Tls. 154, 154). Lands.--Shanghai Lands. The market is very firm, buyers at Tls. 117 and no sellers. ́ ́ Industrial.-In Cotton stocks the only transac- tion reported is Ewos, 'I'ls. 25. Gas shares have been sold at Tls. 105 and 110, and are wanted at the latter rate. Maatschappij, &c., in Langkats. | The market opened with sales for cash at Tls. 280;

on the 13th sales were affected Tls. 277) and 2781. and sales for March at Tls. 280. On 14th cash shares were placed at Tls. 275 and 278). On 15th Tls, 270 for February and Tls. 270 and 265 March. On the Company declaring a dividend for the quarter before, on the 15th prox. the market im- proved and shares are in demand for cash and forward with none offering. Sumatras have been placed at Tls. 721, We look upon cash rate as Tls, 75.

TONNAGE.

HONGKONG, 21th February.--There is no changa to report in the freight market. From Saigon to this, from 14 to 17 cents has been paid, but owing to a fall in t'e price of rice here, not more than 15 cents can be quoted for medium sized carriera; to north coast Java, one fixture reported at 30 cents; to one port Philippines, 29 and 31 cents per picul. Coal freights are weak. Moji to Hongkong, $1.45 nominal; to Singapore, $2 Last The Ulv and Spir have been chartered for northern account, and the Nord for local account.
