SHARE REPORTS. HONGKONG, 2nd February, 1905.-Owing to the Chinese New Year holidays our report is this week issued a day earlier than usual. Dur- ing the interval under review, business has con- tiqued somewhat dull, but at the close there is a decidedly better feeling apparent, and in some instances improved quotations have been esta- blished.
BANKS. Hongkong and Shanghais have ruled stondy with small sales at $720. London now quotes £75. Nationals are unchauged and without business.
MARINE INSURANCES.—Uni: ns are quiet with small sellres at $7 0. China Traders have been placed at $584. Yangtszes have improved to $160, and Cantons to $255. both closing in request. North Chinas are still in the market at 'T'ls. 95.
FIRE INSURANCES.—!
-Chinas have improved to $93,and Hongkongs have again been bookedat$310 oash; the latter being still procurable at the rate. SHIPPING. Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have eased off to 826 sellers, owing to the announcement of a reduction in the dividend for the last half year to $1 per share instead of $1 as paid formerly, and our market closes weak at this quotation. Indo-Chiuas have been booked at $123 and $123), and close firmer with buyers at $124. Shells have been booked at 22), and more shares are procurable at this figure. China and Manilas, Douglases, aud Star Ferries are unchanged.
REFINERIES-China Sugars are firmer with buyers at $220 cash; forward business has been done for April at $228 and $230, and for Sep- tember at $240, more shares being wanted at the latter quotations. Luzons have improved to $22 with sales and further buyers.
MINING. No business has transpired under this heading.
DOCKS, WHARVES, AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampov Docks, after sales at $209, dropped to $207, but are firmer again with small sales and further buyers at $208. Hong. keng and Kowloon Wharves have been booked at $1044 (old) and $102 (new), and more shares are procurable at these rates. New Amoy Docks continue on offer a $27. Farnhams have improved to Tls. 153 with local buyers.
LANDS, HOTELS, AND BUILDINGS.-Hong
kong Lands have déclined to $134 ex the divid- end of $6 per share for the half year ending 31st December, 1904, paid on the 31st ulimo. Kowloon Lands and West Points are quiet, bat steady at $37 and $571 ex dividend respectively. Hongkong Hotels are reported to have been booked at $141. Humphreys' Estates have im- proved to $13 and $12 for the old and new issues repectively. Shanghai Lauds are un. changed at Tls. 115.
COTTON MILLS.-Quotations aro unchanged and no business is reported in this section.
MISCELLANEOUS, China Borneos have
declined to $15 sellers, and Green Island Cements to $28) sellers. Fenwicks have dropped to $43 sellers, and China Light and Powers t $9 sellers. Ices have been booked at $255, and Ropes at $155, the latter closing with further sellers. Electrics continue in request at $15 and 39 for the old and new issues respectively, and Steam Laundries at $7 and $4.

tain. On the 20th a transaction was reported at $155 for cash, and on the 25th $160 was paid for cash, closing firm. Shipping.-Precisely the same rates have ruled for Indo-Chinas, namely T'ls. 88 for January delivery and Tls. 91 for March with buyers at the latter rate, but a very trifling busi- ness has been done. Shanghai Tug & Lighter Co. Ordinary shares have changed hands at Tls. 50 and Preference at 48. Docks and Wharves.-8.0. Farnham, Boyd & Co., Ld. There is nothing new to report in this stock. A fair business was done at Tls. 150 for January, closing a little firmer with sales at 151; for March 155 to 167 is a fair index of the forward rate. Shanghai and Hongkew Wharf Co. A small lot of old shares were dealt in at Tls. 180 and new at 127. There is nothing else to report under this heading. Sugars.-China Sugars are quoted in the south at $218 buyers. Mining. Chinese Engineering & Mining Oo. Bearer shares have again been operated in at Tls. 7.65. Weihaiwei Golds. During the week amall lots have been placed at $5, 6, 64 and 7. The di- roctors have issued a suggestion to the share- holders, to allot one share of $25, with $20 credited as paid up, for every one share in the present com- pany. There is a strong feeling in favour of re- construction. Lands. Shanghai Land Sharee have been placed during the week at Tls. 114 and 115, closing steady at the latter figure. There is nothing else reported under this heading. In- dustrial. Cottons. No transactions reported. Ices have been placed at Tls. 19 and 20. "Pulps have- been dealt in at 'l'ls. 180 for February, followed by transactions at Tls. 155 and Tla. 152) for January. Gas shares have changed hands at Tls, 105. Ma- atschappij, etc., in Langkats have varied between Tis. 274, 2671 and 270 for cash in January, with Tls. 280 and 281) reported for March. For April Tls. 285 has been placed. The market closes fairly steady. Stores and Hotels. Hotel des Colonies are reported at Tls. 20 for January. Astor House shares have been placed at Tls. 27. Hall and Holtz have declined again to $21.
