Messrs, J. P. Bisset & Co.'s share report for the week ending 14th July, 1904, states :—A consider- able business has been done in our principal stocks during the past week. We have to report an exceed- ingly erratic market in Indo-Chinas, a state of affairs which has made dealing in this stock a very difficult one for brokers. We have cash and July rates much in excess of forward sales. Holders have been very uneasy. The T.T. rate to-day on London is 2/7. Banks.-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks. The news of the Bank's working for the past half-year, which has just been announced, has caused a strengthening in this stock. The

Directors propose, and subject to audit, a pay- ment of a dividend for the half-year of £1.108. adding to Reserve five laos, writing off Property Account two lacs, and carrying forward fifteen lacs. Certainly a most satisfactory account. Shares | have been done locally to-day at $665 at Exchange 78. Marine and Fire Insurance.-No business reported in this market. Shipping.-Indo-Chinas, The market opened on the 7th with sales for Sep- tember and October at Tis. 82. On the 8th shares were placed at Tls. 88 and 814 September, 82 October. On the 9th, October shares were placed at Tla. 80. 11th, July delivery were placed at Tis. 824 and 28 and for October Tis. 80, 79, 781, 78 and 77. 12th, July shares were placed at Tls. 80, 81, 82 and 894 and for September at 78, and October 77, 76, 77, 78 and again at 77. At close the market is steady at 82 July, and buyers for December at Tls. 80. Docks & Wharves.-8. C. Farnham,Boyd & Co., Ld. The market has remained fairly steady during the week, but closes weaker, with shares offering. On the 7th, July shares were placed at Tls. 154, 153 and 152. For December at Tls. 157, 157 and 158. On the 8th at 162) cash, 153 and 153) July; 156 October, and 158 December. 9th at 153 July, 158/159 Desember. On the 11th at 153 July, 1531 September, 1561 October, 158 and 158 December. 12th at 152) cash 153, 152] July and 158 December. Shanghai and Hongkew Wharves.
