HOMEWARD FREIGHT.
Messrs. Wheelock & Co. in their Beport dated Shanghai 24th inst, state-There is no change to report in our Homeward Freight Market since last writing as regards cargo to Europe, but with the end of the tea senson there has been a decided falling-off in the quantity offering for America, and boats on the New York via Suez berth are receiv- ing very poor support, in fact so poor that one has been withdrawn. Coastwige.-Coal freights from Japan to this port are slightly firmer but to Hongkong they have dropped to $1.30 per ton of coal; the river trade to the South is all in the hands of the regular liners, and there is nothing | offering for outsiders. For London and the Continent. There are quite a number of steamers going on this berth beside the mails, viz:~8.8, Flintshire now in port sailing on the 26th inst., 8.8. Ceylon and Tamba Maru sailing for Marseilles, London and Antwerp on the 2nd and 4th prox. and 8.8. Glenfarg and Denbigshire for London and the Continent about first week of January. For Havre and Hamburg-The 8.8. Ambria sails on the 3rd, whilst the Savoia leaves for Rotterdam and Hamburg on the 4th prox. For New York via Suez.-The s.8. Himera clears to-day and the other boats that were to have followed closely for December loading are all being kept back owing to the scarcity of cargo here and in the South. The order will now be s.s. Nubia to sail about 29th inst., 8.8. Sikh and Hudson about 5th
prox, and 8.8. Sagami about the 15th.
