making it 8 per cent. for the year; a bonus of 10 per cent. upon Contributory Premiums, carrying Tls. 40,000 to the credit of the reserve fund, also a further sum of Tls, 100,000 has been carried for- ward from the balance of Tls. 214,588.93 to the credit of the Reserve account, increasing this fund to Tls. 500,000. No other business reported in stocks under this heading. Fire Insurance.-No business reported. Shipping.-Indos opened on the 2nd with sales for December at Tls. 61. On the 7th business was reported at Tla 59) and 59 October, and on the 8th at 60 October, and 60 January. Shanghai Tug & Lighter Co.-Busi- ness has been done in ordinaries at Tls. 58 and 56, and 50 for preference. Docks and Wharves. A fair business has been done in Farnhams, the rates weakening towards the I c'ose. The market opened on the 2nd with ! sales at Tls. 137 and 135 for October Settlement, and on the 3rd business was done at 1341 and 134 and 133 October, and 136) December. On the 7th October shares were placed at 132 136, and 135 December, and 135 January. On the 8th, October Settement at 134 and 133, 135 for Novem- ber, December and January Shanghai and Hong- kew Wharves. A transaction is reported at Tls. 215. Sugar Cos.-No business reported. Mining.- No business reported. Lands.-Shanghais have been placed at Tls, 105 and 105; the market is steady at these rates. Industrial. -- International Cottons have been placed at Tls. 25. China Flours at Tls. 67 for October Sett. Maatschappij, etc. in Langkats. On the 2nd the market opened with cash sales at 276) and 275 for October, 280 November, 287; and 285 December and 300 March, On the 3rd.
