SHARE REPORTS. HONGKONG, 31st July, 1903-The market continues abnormally dull, and wh Ist rates are fairly well main aiue. "busiuoss is very re- stricted. The mouthly settlements to-day have been sati-faq orily negotiated, but until money is ensier no improvement in the market can fairly be looked for.

BANKS.-Hongkong und Shanghis remain quiet lut stady at $620 with small sales for cash, and it is apprntly only the difficulty of finance which prevents a large de aund for the stock at present mate. Shares could be placed forward pins ab ut8 per cent. per annum interest but holders ask 10 per cent, to 12 per cant. Nationals are in demand af. $27, but shares are scires and only very smill sales have taken place.

MARINE INSURANCE: Unions remain un- changed with a small a nes: at 8510. China Traders have found buy us at 862 and later af, Sul, closing steady at the latter rate. Yangtz s are som what firmer with probibie buy ers at $135. Cautons have been negotiated at $18) closing steady to strong at that rate.

FIRE INSURANCES Hongkongs bare ruled quiet with small sales at $275 Chinas Live found further small buyers at $87 and 888, but close with sellers at the hiffer rate.

Business for the week under review has been quieter, but rates in all stocks have been very steady, with a slight fus provement in Langkats. Our money market ia easier, and we expect to see an improvement in Prices.
