Muscatel, on the rails headed the lot, and when the Stand was passed on the first run round the order was Musc fe', Ben-y-Gloe, Commoner, Jigoku, Dewdrop II., and Claimant They bunched together, but at the Bridge Muscatel secured a better leal from Ben y Gloe, which in turn was passed by Jigoku. * 3lbs orer. Rebel King got off well at the start and kept his lead the first time past the post from Rare Rose and Pandar. In the back stretch Rare Rose challenged the leader. Then Pandur was sent to the front, and coming round the bend Mr. Burkill forced his pony into first place and increased his lead all the way up the straight, winning eventually by about four lengths. Rare Rose came on strongly and won second honours by a head from Rebel King. Time, 2 mins. 241 sec2.

Muscatel showed up at the start, with Portasia and Claimant in Lot pursuit, and this was the order of the field whom they passed the Grand Stand for the first time, Silver Fox, Winter Pore, Joker, and Mad Mullah tailing ont in the order named. Going round to the back stretch Portasia began to show up well and went to the front followed by Joker. By the time tho Bl:c: Rock was ranched, lowever, Muscatel had regained its position closely followed by Silver Fox with Winter Rose lying a good third. So fast was the pace set by Muscatel and Silver Fox coming round the bend and up the straight that the rest of the field was. hopelessly ontdistanced and these two raced home neck and neck; result, a dead heat, Winter Rose a poor third. In this order the field passed the post for the first time. Getting round to the back stretch, Legacy drew ahead with Bril- liant in her wake, Clare and Ruby meanwhile tailing off and Finella taking up third place. Coming past the Village, Legacy was runuiug neck and neck with the Derby winner, but in the straight Brilliant showed superior stamina and throwing off Legacy's challenge won by about two lengths, Finelia a poor third, ton lengths behind.
