The death is reported from Peking, on the 16th inst, of Jao Ying-chi, who had recently been appointed to the Governorship of Anhwei from Chinese Turkestan. The event occurred at Kuomi, Shantung, as Jao was on his way to the Imperial capital previous to taking up office.
According to the latest Japauese papers. arrests of prominent men in the educational world in connection with the text book scandal continue to be made. It is reported that it has been decided at a Cabinet Council to place the publication of schoo!-books under government control.
